Beautification Micro-Grant Program

Downtown Business Micro-Grants

Beautification Micro-Grant for Downtown Businesses

April 2018 – The Chehalis Community Renaissance Team (CCRT) has announced a beautification micro-grant program to provide matching grant funds for the enhancement of Downtown Chehalis.  The grant program aims to leverage CCRT’s investment in the beautification efforts downtown, stimulate private investment, and enhance the pedestrian environment.

This program will be offered to downtown business and property owners who desire to make small-scale improvements to the facade of their buildings. Eligible facade expenses may include, but are not limited to, landscaping (soil, flower pots, etc.), signage, sandwich boards, art, exterior lighting, exterior cleaning, and window storefront display improvements that are visible from rights-of-way.

The grants are intended to help downtown businesses and property owners improve the fronts of their buildings. The grants provide a 50 percent match, up to $250 per business or property, for approved improvement costs.  Applications will be accepted for as long as funding is available through December 31, 2019. Grant awards will be first-come, first-served, and based on available funding.  Applications are now being accepted and will be reviewed and awarded by the Chehalis Community Renaissance Team.

The goal of the program is to enhance the physical image of the downtown as a quality place to shop, work, walk, invest in, and live.  The micro-grants are created as a compliment to CCRT’s existing $2,500 matching facade improvement grant program.  CCRT has awarded six facade grants in the past nine months totaling just under $15,000 which has returned over $100,000 in building owner investment.

“We are excited to expand our programs helping our business and property owners directly.  This is one more item in a menu of programs we are creating.” said Annalee Tobey, CCRT executive director.
