Encouraging bike traffic downtown
Experience Chehalis, formerly named the Chehalis Community Renaissance Team, has funded the production of fifteen bike racks now installed in Downtown Chehalis. The first ten were installed in 2017 followed by five more in 2018 due to their popularity. The bike racks were produced by local metal artist Shawn King, owner of Iron King. Installation of the bike racks was completed by City of Chehalis staff.  Several local businesses including Book N Brush, Sweet Inspirations and The Pearl Café graciously sponsored the racks placed near their businesses.
This project was accomplished to make bicycling more safe, convenient, and welcoming in Downtown Chehalis. Eight bike racks have been placed on Market Street, two racks at the Chehalis Timberland Library, two racks on Chehalis Avenue, one at Recreation Park, at the Chehalis Post Office, and one at the Lewis County Courthouse.   Take a bike ride downtown and then rack it up – Downtown Chehalis is ready!
