Security State Bank opened its doors on Northwest Chehalis Avenue in 1903, initially operating in a building owned by C.W. Long before relocating across the street to the iconic two-story brick building that still stands today. The bank was founded by C.W. Long, W.D. Richardson, J.W. Reynolds, E.P. Churchill, and Arthur S. Cory. Three key figures who guided the bank’s development were John Alexander, Sr., his brother J.T. Alexander, and J.T.’s son-in-law, William M. Luebke. Throughout its history, Security State Bank maintained remarkable leadership stability, with only four presidents overseeing the Bank’s last 115 years of business. In 2025, Security State Bank was acquired by Gesa Credit Union, bringing together two financial institutions that share fundamental values of community service across Washington state.
