The season begins with the Country Chicks Fall Market at the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds, where shoppers can browse vintage treasures, handmade goods, and upcycled finds. Music, concessions, and friendly faces make this one of the region’s favorite fall traditions.

Throughout October, local businesses bring the autumn spirit to life with harvest markets, pop-up shopping events, and seasonal festivals. Families will love the Pumpkin Trains at the Chehalis-Centralia Railroad & Museum, and the Chehalis Farmers Market continues into October, offering late-season produce and locally made goods. October also brings themed events and community celebrations at the Veterans Memorial Museum.

Chehalis is also a great place to soak in the season. The Willapa Hills Trail is at its most spectacular in mid-October when leaves peak across Lewis County.  For indoor adventures, explore the Lewis County Historical Museum or Veterans Memorial Museum—both brimming with stories and exhibits perfect for a rainy day.

When Halloween approaches, Chehalis comes alive with spooky fun. Downtown businesses host community trick-or-treating, and the Veterans Memorial Museum’s Trunks with Treats offers a safe, family-friendly evening of costumes and candy the day before Halloween on October 30.
