Many Lewis County residents struggle to access quality medical care and other essential services due to a lack of reliable transportation. This disproportionately affects our elderly population, individuals living with a disability, the socioeconomically disadvantaged, youth, and anyone who just needs a ride.

At Twin Transit, we believe that transportation should never get in the way of life.

After operating fixed route and paratransit services for over 40 years, Twin Transit is piloting a new direct transportation program that will revolutionize the way our community moves. Dial-a-Ride Twin Transit (DARTT) is a door-to-door transportation pilot program that will operate within a 15-mile drive time radius of our Centralia and Chehalis locations.

The program will begin service on November 16, 2020 and extend through at least February 28, 2021. This initial pilot phase will allow us to assess need and further develop our model to create the most effective and beneficial system for our community. During this time, we will also continue to pursue grant and other alternative funding sources to further improve and expand the program.

How does it work?

It’s easy! Simply call 360-330-5555 to book and pay for your ride, at least 24 hours in advance. Once your reservation is made, a van will pick you up at the appointed day and time and take you where you need to go.

  • Reservations must be made by 4:00 p.m. the previous day (although more advance notice is appreciated).
  • Rides are available Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Pickup and drop off points must be located within the DARTT service area map.
  • At least two hours of notice must be given for any cancelations or rescheduling of appointments.
  • If less than two hours notice is given, or if you are a “no show,” no refund will be given.

Twin Transit is now accepting reservations for rides beginning on November 16, 2020.

What is the DARTT service area?

DARTT offers transportation within a 15-mile drive time radius of Twin Transit’s Centralia and Chehalis locations.

DARTT Service Area Map:

You do not have to live within this region, but your ride does need to start and end within the service area map. We hope to expand the DARTT program to encompass an even wider geographic region in the future. This pilot phase will allow us to test and improve the model, in preparation for further growth.

How much does it cost?

The price of each ride is based on mileage. The following chart shows a general pricing outline. For exact pricing and to book your ride, please call 360-330-5555.

Miles One Way Price / Pricing
0-5 / $3.00
6-10 / $6.00
11-15 / $9.00
16-20 / $12.00
21-25 / $15.00
25-30 / $18.00
31+ / $21.00

If you choose for your DARTT ride to connect you with Twin Transit’s fixed route service, you will receive a free bus pass for that portion of your trip.

COVID Precautions

As with our current fixed route and paratransit service, the safety of Twin Transit passengers and drivers
is our primary concern. As such, stringent health and safety protocols are in place:

  • Each DARTT ride will be limited to two passengers or one family group
  • Each van features a Plexiglas shield between the driver and passengers
  • Each vehicle undergoes routine sterilization
  • Masking and adherence to social distancing protocols are required

Our community needs comprehensive transportation options. DARTT’s individualized door-to-door service will provide access to quality medical care and other essential services. It’s also another safe transportation option for those with medical concerns during the COVID-19 pandemic. By expanding
local transportation options in this new and innovative way, we can reduce stress and isolation, increase connection, facilitate better health outcomes, and greatly improve overall quality of life.

We know you have places to go. We’ll get you there – better than ever before.
